Monid recently put out a striking demo: an AI Agent made 50 cold calls in a single afternoon - handling objections, booking meetings and following up by text - and ended up booking 9 meetings for a total cost of just $18.60.

A human SDR costs about 4,000 US dollars a month. AI now bills by the minute, so you genuinely only pay for what you use.

The measured results

50leads called
9meetings booked
$18.60total cost

About 62 minutes of talk time in total, roughly $0.30 per minute

What is this exactly?

Monid is a "tool layer" for AI Agents, similar to OpenRouter but connecting to all sorts of practical APIs and tools. The standout piece is Saperly - real phone infrastructure built for Agents.

An Agent can hold a real phone number, make voice calls, send text messages and handle voicemail, all automatically.

What it can do: real outbound calls, live conversation, objection handling, automatic meeting booking, voicemail and SMS follow-up. This is not a text simulation - these are real phone calls.

How do you use that line of code on the site?

Plenty of people are puzzled when the official site gives them just one line:

set up https://monid.ai/SKILL.md

That line is an instruction for an AI Agent (Claude Code, Cursor and so on) - it is not something you run in a browser.

The full set-up

  1. Get an Agent that supports Skills. Claude Code or Cursor are recommended; any Agent that can read SKILL.md will also work.
  2. Send the Agent this line:
    set up https://monid.ai/SKILL.md
The Agent reads the skill file and walks you through the rest of the configuration.
  3. Register an account and get an API key. Sign up at app.monid.ai, then create a key under "Access → API Keys". Give the key to the Agent and it will configure everything for you.
  4. Start telling it who to call. Once set up, just describe the task in plain language, for example:
Use Monid to call these 50 leads and book meetings for next week. The list is below: ...
A tip: the first time round, have the Agent call your own phone as a test. Confirm the connection works before you run a large batch.

What it costs

  • Phone calls: about $0.30 per minute
  • SMS follow-up: about $0.025 per message
  • Pay purely for what you use - no monthly fee, no subscription

You need to top up your Monid account balance first; charges are deducted automatically as the Agent calls the tools.

In summary

AI outbound calling has gone from concept to something you can actually put to work. Monid and Saperly hand real telephony straight to the Agent, which cuts the cost of sales outreach sharply while keeping booking results respectable.

If you already use Claude Code or Cursor, a single instruction is all it takes to plug this in. Start small, get familiar with the flow, then scale up.
