Codex is OpenAI's coding agent. It understands your repository and, as asked, builds features, fixes bugs, writes tests and reviews pull requests, runs code in an isolated sandbox to check the result, and hands the changes back for your approval. Since 2026 it can also operate apps on your computer, remember your coding preferences and generate interface images.
